2022 Sweets Treats

It's no secret that we love sweets around here. In fact, the team at Appleton Sweets lives and breathes them. As one of the UK's most popular wholesale confectioners, it's our job to keep our ears to the ground for the latest confectionary offerings.

So far, 2022 has been a fantastic year, offering some incredible weather, delicious treats and great movies. We're all about the sweet stuff, so this post is dedicated to the best new confectionery brands that hit the shelves this year.

Let's dive in.

KitKat Bites

Yes, KitKat finally offered fans a bitesize version of their infamous treats. The wafer and chocolate combination never fails to disappoint, and it's one of the most popular treats for the daily coffee break.

Now, you can take a bag with you to work and delight your friends. Tesco and Booker had exclusive access to the treats from February, but now you can find them in any supermarket across the UK.

At just £1.59 for a 90-gram bag, there are plenty of reasons to get excited about KitKat Bites. If you're a caramel lover, the company also recently released their chocolate caramel bites (which are delicious).

Aero Melts

Nestle's Aero range is a classic; it melts in your mouth. The bubbly chocolate has been around since 1935, and it's as popular now as it ever was. This year, the company released their latest innovation - Aero Melts.

The little chocolate buttons are filled with aerated milk chocolate, meaning they offer the same flavour and texture but are much more convenient.

If you like sharing with your friends or are looking for a great cinema snack, these moreish chocolates won't disappoint you.

KitKat Chunky & Lotus Biscoff

Can there possibly be anything more exciting than the combination of KitKat and Lotus Biscoff? We don't think so. Imagine the creamy chocolate of a KitKat with the unique and decadent taste of Biscoff, and you'll understand why this one flew off the shelves during Easter.

Biscoff spread is made from caramelised biscuits, and it quickly took off in the UK, but the combination of chocolate takes it to new and exciting levels.

Cadbury Caramilk Buttons

Caramel and white chocolate is a heavenly combination, and Cadbury's Caramilk Buttons are the perfect example. The little buttons are filled with creamy caramel and smooth white chocolate, making them an irresistible treat for any sweet-toothed individual.

If you haven't tried Caramilk before, it's a popular treat in Australia, but Cadbury is finally letting people in the UK sample it.

Rowntree's Randoms Squidgy Swirls

You were wrong if you thought that the Randoms range couldn't get any better. Rowntree's, owned by Nestle, released their new Squidgy Swirls this year, and they're an absolute winner.

The sweets are made with natural fruit juices and have a soft, squidgy texture. They offer a combination of yoghurt and fruit flavours, including:

  • Blackcurrant
  • Apple
  • Strawberry

The yoghurt combination makes these sweets a perfect choice for children and will undoubtedly be a big hit.

Cadbury Twirl Caramel

The classic Cadbury Twirl just got even better, with the latest version of the fan favourite having a caramel filling. People are going crazy over the new caramel treat, which will certainly be a welcome addition to Cadbury's impressive line of confectionery.

The chocolate is made with Cadbury's Dairy Milk chocolate and is filled with smooth and creamy caramel. It's the perfect blend of sweet and rich flavours and will fly off the shelves.

Cadbury White Confetti

Cadbury's White Confetti is a true testament to the brand's inventive nature, and this chocolate bar is a real treat. Along with the deliciously milky white chocolate, you'll also get heaps of oat biscuits and chocolate beans in each bar.

If you're looking for a festive treat or something to warm you on the cold evenings, you can't go wrong with this one.

Rowntree's Tropical Tots

Rowntree's Tropical Tots are the latest release from the company, and they're a delicious way to get your fruit fix. The sweets are made with natural fruit juices and have a chewy, gummy texture. They come in four flavours:

  • Pineapple
  • Mango
  • Passion Fruit
  • Peach
  • Grapefruit

One of the most significant benefits of Jelly Tots is their small size, making them ideal for younger children - and these interesting flavours won't disappoint.

Cadbury's Mystery Bars

Cadbury's Mystery Bars are the latest in a long line of successful chocolate bars and are very different from the usual offerings. The great thing about the Mystery Bars is they genuinely are an enigma.

People are scratching their heads, trying to figure out what each bar's filling is. Bar one has a distinct fruity flavour that some describe as berries, while others believe it's cherries. There are also nutty notes, which makes it even harder to pinpoint the taste.

The second bar confused people, with some enjoying the distinctly strong flavour and others comparing it to sour blackcurrants or apples.

We'll let you sample them for yourself and decide.

M&M's Mad Scientist Mix

M&M's Mad Scientist Mix is a new take on the classic chocolate treat, and it's certainly an interesting one. The Halloween treat will be the perfect combination of milk chocolate, peanut and peanut butter in one bag.

While we're not sure if the candy will be released in the UK, there are plenty of opportunities to buy it from specialist retailers.

There's Never Been A Better Time To Stock Up On New Chocolate
